RHOC Gina Kirschenheiter Scores A Major Victory In Her Battle With Ex Matt

Real Housewives of Orange County star Gina Kirschenheiter’s marriage to her estranged husband Matt is almost over. This week, a judge granted Gina and Matt a “dissolution of marriage,” and it will officially terminate on December 31st.

The reason the couple must technically remain married for another four-and-a-half months is because there is still paperwork that needs to be completed on “matters of joint property and other issues.” If the paperwork is completed and submitted on time, Gina and Matt will be legally single and the divorce will be final as of January 1, 2020.

Gina asked that she be allowed to keep Kirschenheiter as her last name, so she could have the same name as her three children, and the judge granted her request. The former couple also agreed on division of property, spousal support, and child support.

The judge in the case also extended the restraining order that Gina filed against Matt back in June after he allegedly attacked her and threatened her life. Gina claims that Matt broke into her home in the middle of the night and assaulted her repeatedly before someone called 911.

Prosecutors have not yet filed charges against Matt for the incident, but police are investigating and the judge extended the protective order until January 15, 2020, which is the next time Gina and Matt are scheduled to be back in court to discuss her domestic violence claims against him.

During their court hearing, Matt cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce, and he made it clear he would not get back together with Gina if he had the opportunity. According to The Hollywood Gossip, the former couple refused to look at each other during the proceedings, but Gina did break down in tears at one point.

Matt did voice his concern about their nasty divorce playing out on new episodes of RHOC, and he filed documents to request that their three minor children stay away from Bravo cameras. Matt never appeared on the show due to his job at the investment management firm PIMCO. However, the company fired Matt after his arrest.

“Matt was recently terminated from PIMCO after the incident with Gina. He is devastated, and does not know how he is going to provide for his family,” says an insider.

Police also arrested Gina back in January for a DUI, and a judge recently sentenced her to 20 hours of community service and a six-month alcohol program.
